Unexpected Obsession

Time to add one more thing to the list of tasty foods you can eat and still lose weight:

Taco Bell.

Seriously.

I straight up loved Taco Bell when I was growing up. I'd order my 4+ ridiculous items (seven-layer burrito...mmhmmmmm....) and tear that stuff up. However, after one regret-inducing Run to the Border in early 2006, I decided to look up the calories for the items I ordered.

Bad idea. Realizing that no food outside of Fogo de Chao or a bucket of Sour Patch Kids and/or Oreos is worth 3,000 calories, my Taco Bell days were over. After a two-year hiatus, I decided to give TB one last shot in 2008. Not only did I again realize that those 3,000 calories were a huge mistake, but after I saw sour cream and guacamole being shot out of a ketchup-like squeeze bottle, I was done.

Despite those unfortunate incidents, and after only one Taco Bell visit in 5+ years, I've now hit up that hotness about ten times during the past two months. I skip all the "risky" items and stick to the Fresco Menu, where you'll find no cheese, guacamole, or sour cream, but plenty of flavor. Better yet, after only $3-4 and three items, you'll leave with less than 450 calories in your belly. In comparison, a sandwich from Potbelly's, one of the healthiest "fast" food options, will set you back 490 calories.

So yea, Yo Quiero Taco Bell. All. The. Time.

I love a good taco bell taco fresco style. Great post, Andrew. How's the house coming?
